D-Link ships new dual band wireless router

D-Link has announced the launch of a new dual band wireless router and claims that the product is the “industry’s first high-powered simultaneous dual band Draft 802.11n wireless router”.
The new router simultaneously transmits both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, to prioritise and separate high bandwidth.
“The digital home is becoming a reality, with recent advancements in rich media and digital communications, where the key point of convergence is relying on networking equipment that seamlessly connect various technologies in a single unified communication network,” said Maurice Famularo, Marketing Director for D-Link Australia and New Zealand.

“We’re addressing this market with the introduction of the D-Link DIR-855, which simultaneously uses two radio bands for optimised home media networking, combined with a standard-based high-speed gigabit switch, a hardware internet firewall, and a Quality of Service (QoS) engine that delivers the most advanced networking solution for the customer”, added Famularo.
The new router ships with a 4-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet switch with one upstream Gigabit internet port. It uses dual active firewalls (SPI, NAT). The D-Link DIR-855 Xtreme N Duo Media Router is now available through resellers with an RRP of $599.95.
